My Phonebook is Dead!

by Steve Waugh | Friday, June 19th, 2009 at 2:35 pm

I have a lonely, dust covered phonebook somewhere on my desk.  It died of neglect some time ago.  I’ll call him Hubert.  Good ‘ole Hubert will get replaced in a year’s time by a new phonebook.  It too will die a slow and painful death.  Sorry to have disappointed any of you, but that’s the way it goes for phonebooks in my home and office.

I look up all local businesses online everyday.  It kind of makes sense because I work and live online.  I let my fingers do the walking… on my keyboard.  Or phone.  Either way I get my numbers and connections via the digital route.  Google, Yahoo, [insert your search engine here] would not profit so heavily if I were the only phonebook mass murderer.  Smart business people with a brand to sell make sure their image has an online presence.

At any rate, by a process known as deduction, I’m going to deduce that some of you have a Hubert stuck somewhere in the recesses of your home or office.  Hey, don’t act so innocent like you’ve done nothing wrong and have nothing to hide!  I’ve got time if you want to go check and see if he (or she) is still alive.  Go ahead, I’ll wait….

Aha!  We’ve caught another phonebook killer red-handed!
