Twitter Lists

Twitter recently unveiled it’s latest feature: Lists. Basically, lists allow you to group Twitter accounts into categories. Now, you can set up a category (e.g. Family), and then add people to your list. You decide if the list is public or private. Public lists can be searched or followed by anyone while private lists can only be followed by the list creator.


The cool thing is that you don’t necessarily have to follow the tweets of each person in the list. Instead, you can view the list as a collective entity. Imagine that you have an uncle that tweets too frequently for your tastes. Well, instead of being buried in an avalanche of his tweets, you can now just “pop-in” to view the list whenever you choose. It’s almost like reading the morning newspaper that is divided into News, Classifieds, Sports, etc.

Here at the Foo we’ve set up a private clients list. While we are mostly concerned with web design topics, we still want to stay abreast of the latest news for our clients. The list allows us to fine tune our tweet classifications. We also have a public “web design” list (http://twitter.com/crazywebfoo/clients) to see the latest tips, trends, and related articles.
